Tax Compliance Timeline

To enhance efficiencies, starting in 2026, tax returns will be prepared in a first-come, first-served basis within a set capacity queue. Up to 65 returns will be completed by the April filing deadline. Once capacity is reached, all remaining returns will be placed on extension. To help ensure your return is filed by April, please submit your completed organizer as soon as possible. The queue is based on demand and will likely fill up by mid-February.

  • Engagement letters will be sent out by January.

  • Signed engagement letters and 50% downpayment for services is required for me to assist in filing returns, including extensions.

  • Organizers are sent to clients after the engagement letters are signed and downpayment is received. The organizer and document submission must be fully completed before you are placed in the queue.

    • Pass-through entity organizers must be completed by February 15th.

    • Individual organizers must be completed by March 15th.

    • Returns will need to be extended if the organizer is not fully complete based on the deadlines listed above OR if the queue is full. Please note, extensions do not increase your risk of audit.

  • You will receive reminders for any open items in your organizer until these items are resolved.

  • When it’s your turn in the queue, you’ll be notified. If we need additional information, we’ll reach out to address any questions so we can prepare your return.

  • Once your return is complete, you'll receive a copy of your return to look over, the option to schedule a virtual meeting to discuss your return, and e-file forms in the client portal for signature.  Please sign the e-file forms and make sure to download your finalized return.

Extension Policies

An extension only extends the time to file a return - it does not extend the time to pay. Any taxes owed must be paid by April 15th or you will begin to accrue interest and penalties. DISCLAIMER: Strategy and Tax LLC is not responsible for any late payment penalties resulting from underestimated tax liability.

  • Strategy and Tax LLC will not calculate extension payments. Extension amounts will be based on 100% of prior year tax liablity (or 110% of prior year tax liability if your AGI was more than $150,000 or $75,000 if married filed separately) unless the client provides another amount.

  • For extended returns, if the organizer and all required documents are not submitted by August 1st, then there is no guarantee the return will be completed before the extended due date.
